 Our Story

Rondout Roasting Company was formed during a difficult year for everyone — 2020. We worked from home, had a lively hood (and local music store, Planet Woodstock) shut down for months, and moved twice during the pandemic. Fiona McElroy & Dustin Bryant, together with the help of experienced friends in the roasting world, started Rondout Roasting Company. A local coffee roaster was born.

At Rondout Roasting Company, we love two things: coffee and the Hudson Valley. Coffee is a given. But why the Hudson Valley? Because we’re local — We were born and raised right here in Ulster County, where our families have lived for centuries. Veterans of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars who mustered in Kingston. Our great-great grandmother Alice, who was the first woman to walk across the Rondout Creek Bridge when it was built. Great Grandpa Lewis, a Shandaken-based Prohibition-era bootlegger. These are our ancestors. The same grit and determination that got them through the harsh Hudson Valley winters is what drives us to produce the best roasted coffee in the region. (We should know. We drink a lot of coffee.)
